New Delhi [India], October 25 (ANI): Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Friday presided over the 53rd Foundation Day celebrations and Convocation of the University College of Medical Sciences and said that the centre is committed to strengthening India's healthcare system and ensuring that medical services have been made accessible to all.
"I extend my best wishes to all the students, as they are set to embark on a journey to serve humanity and make meaningful contributions to the healthcare sector," said Nadda while addressing the event in the national capital on Friday.
Lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda said, "Under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, remarkable strides have been made in healthcare. From 6 AIIMS, we now have 22, addressing regional imbalances and ensuring premier tertiary care institutions are accessible nationwide."
"Over the past ten years, medical colleges have increased from 387 to 766. Our government changed the National Health Policy in 2017, which marked a shift from looking at healthcare solely from a curative angle to a holistic approach encompassing preventive, integrative, palliative and curative healthcare. PM Modi ji had promised to further add 75,000 medical seats in the next five years, and we are committed to fulfilling his vision," he added.
Earlier in the day, celebrating the completion of three years of Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), JP Nadda wrote on X, "Today, as we mark 3 years of Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), launched by Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji during the COVID pandemic, we celebrate a monumental step towards strengthening India's healthcare infrastructure. With a budget outlay of Rs64,180 Cr, this historic initiative aims to strengthen India's public health infrastructure and enhance our ability to respond to future pandemics. #PMABHIM has focused on filling critical gaps in infrastructure, surveillance, research, and empowering urban and rural areas. It has taken strong steps towards ensuring that communities are self-reliant in managing health crises. PM-ABHIM is a vital step toward building a resilient healthcare system for all and heralding us towards 'Swasth Bharat, Sashakt Bharat'." (ANI)
