Rajya Sabha chairman CP Radhakrishnan to meet leaders of all parties tomorrow

This will be the first meeting convened by Chairman Radhakrishnan after he assumed office. It is expected to provide an opportunity for party leaders to exchange views on improving the functioning of the Rajya Sabha and strengthening parliamentary deliberations. The main objective of the meeting is to discuss how to facilitate smooth and structured discussions, free from disruptions, and optimise both time and the quality of debates in the House.

New Delhi [India], October 6 (ANI): Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan will hold a meeting with the leaders of all parties in the Rajya Sabha tomorrow, October 7, at 4:00 pm, according to a press release.
The meeting will bring together several high-profile political figures, including Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Leader of the House; Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition; Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs; Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Law & Justice and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs; Dr. L Murugan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. HD Deve Gowda, a former Prime Minister of India and a member of the Rajya Sabha, has also been invited. Almost all party leaders have confirmed their participation in the meeting.

Radhakrishnan's initiative aims to ensure that the House's proceedings run smoothly, with maximum time devoted to meaningful discussions and minimal disruptions. The meeting will also focus on seeking suggestions from leaders to enhance the efficiency of House proceedings.
Earlier on Monday, the Vice President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, CP Radhakrishnan, visited the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
During the visit, he interacted with the officials of the Secretariat. He reviewed its functioning, including its role in providing legislative, administrative, and procedural support to the House and its Members.
A detailed presentation was made to the Vice-President and Chairman, highlighting the various divisions and initiatives of the Secretariat. (ANI)
