Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 30(ANI): Rajasthan is experiencing a surge in visitors as tourists flock to the state capital, Jaipur, and other iconic destinations to welcome the New Year 2026. Driven by the winter vacation season, a record number of domestic and international travellers are filling up hotels and heritage sites, providing a significant boost to the local tourism industry.
The highest concentration of visitors is currently in Jaisalmer and Jaipur, with thousands arriving daily. While domestic tourism is on the rise, international travellers from countries like the USA, Australia, England, Germany, and Russia are also coming in large numbers. Foreign tourists are particularly drawn to Jaipur's "Pink City" charm, its culinary heritage, and its vibrant local arts.
In Jaipur, famous landmarks such as Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, Albert Hall, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Nahargarh Fort are seeing heavy foot traffic. Industry experts and guides noted that while the peak season began in November and will last until February, the final week of December remains the busiest period of the year.
The state government's efforts to promote the region have led to a record-breaking season. Local authorities expect this momentum to continue through February, further strengthening Rajasthan's tourism economy as more guests arrive to experience the "land of dunes."
For those seeking grandeur, Rajasthan is the perfect destination for New Year celebrations. Udaipur and Jaipur host opulent events, including palace dinners, lake fireworks, and traditional folk performances. The winter season here is pleasant, with sunny days and cool nights ideal for dressing up. In Udaipur, visitors can enjoy a lakeside dinner overlooking Lake Pichola and watch fireworks over the City Palace. In Jaipur, Nahargarh Fort provides panoramic views of the city lights. Heritage hotels in both cities are organising gala dinners with unlimited food and drinks, along with cultural performances, offering a complete New Year celebration.
This year, step away from the usual celebrations and embrace Rajasthan this New Year with a truly unforgettable experience in Jaisalmer. Desert camp parties with Rajasthani folk music, bonfires, starlit dinners, camel rides and cultural performances offer a magical New Year's Eve experience. You can also enjoy the Desert Festival, also known as Maru Mahotsav, which will be held in Jaisalmer from January 30 to February 1, 2026, offering a three-day celebration of Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage.
With the arrival of large numbers of foreign tourists, the city is buzzing with festive energy, and tourism stakeholders expect strong participation in in-house celebrations this year. Organised annually in the Golden City, the festival showcases vibrant folk music and dance performances, traditional art forms and lively competitions such as camel polo, turban tying and moustache contests.
