Rajasthan: NCPCR seeks "detailed action taken report" from Jodhpur Police into killing of four family members

The four were killed and their bodies set ablaze by unidentified persons in Rajasthan's Chaurai village on Wednesday, police said.

Jodhpur (Rajasthan) [India], July 20 (ANI): National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought a "detailed action taken report" from the Jodhpur Police within 7 days in the Chaurai village incident here where four people, including a six-month-old child, were killed.
The four were killed and their bodies set ablaze by unidentified persons in Rajasthan's Chaurai village on Wednesday, police said.
In a notice to Jodhpur Police Commissioner (CP) , the apex child rights body said, "Commission has taken cognizance of the matter u/s l3(l)(j) of CPCR Act, 2005, and requesting your good offices to conduct an expeditious and detailed investigation into the incident and share the following - Status of the investigation, Details of the child, Copy of FIR and Post-mortem report.”
“Further, a detailed Action Taken Report along with above details may kindly be shared with the Commission within 07 days of receipt of this letter,” the NCPCR further said in the notice issued on Wednesday.
National Commission for Women (NCM) on Thursday also criticized the brutal incident. "NCW strongly condemns the horrific incident in Rajasthan where 4 people, including a six-month-old, were burnt to death. Taking suo moto cognizance, NCW has contacted the DGP Rajasthan urging prompt action on this tragic matter," the NCM tweeted.
Notably, the Jodhpur Police in Rajasthan recovered the charred bodies of four family members from their home in the Cherai village in the Ramnagar Gram Panchayat of Osia area in Jodhpur on Wednesday. As per the information, the family members were first murdered and then their bodies set afire.
 “The Jodhpur police have recovered 4 burnt bodies from a hut in Ramnagar village. Further investigation is underway,” Jodhpur Superintendent of Police (Rural) Dharmendra Yadav told ANI.
 Launching a scathing attack on the ruling Congress government on Wednesday, the BJP has demanded the resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
"The incident is shameful, the Chief Minister should resign from his post as this incident took place in the home district of CM Ashok Gehlot," state BJP president Chandra Prakash Joshi said. (ANI)
