Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], Mar 6 (ANI): Rajasthan High Court issued a notice to the Defence Secretary on Wednesday in connection with a sexual harassment case filed by a woman Army officer against a Brigadier.
Advocate Sameer Jain, who appeared on behalf of the petitioner, said, “The woman was commissioned in 2013. From then, she was being continuously harassed by a senior brigadier using his undue influence. The woman had also filed a complaint in 2018 under the Sexual Harassment Act, 2013. But they did not do fair enquiry and ordered an in house committee probe.”
“She challenged the enquiry in Rajasthan High Court and said that the committee’s enquiry was not impartial and independent, but done under the Brigadier’s influence. The court has sent notices and sought reply within three weeks,” he added.
A single-judge bench in the case has also sought replies from General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Head Quarters South Western Command, Chief of Staff, Head Quarters, South Western Command, Presiding Officer/Chairperson, Internal Complaints Committee for Sexual Harassment and Brigadier, Dy Jag, HQ Western Command.
