Dibrugarh (Assam) [India], May 5 (ANI): Rain lashed several parts of Assam's Dibrugarh on Sunday. The downpour provided relief to the locals from the scorching heat. It has also brought the temperature further down in the city.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), meanwhile, predicted light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds at a few places over Assam on May 5.

In its special bulletin, the Indian Meteorological Department issued a warning for rainfall activity and strong winds accompanied by thunderstorms across the state between May 6 and May 7.
"Thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds with speed reaching up to 50-60 Kmph is
very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam on May 5. Heavy to very heavy rain is very
likely to occur at isolated places over Assam on May 6 and May 7," the Met office said.
"Light to moderate rain is likely to occur in most places across the state between May 6 to May 9," the IMD further said.
Earlier on May 2, heavy rainfall in the hill district of Dima Hasao caused flooding and landslides across Assam.
Several areas of the district, including Haflong Town, were flooded due to heavy rainfall. Railway service was also disrupted due to landslides between Jatinga-Lampur and New Harangajao.
CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway Sabyasachi De said that in some parts, water and mud overflowed on the railway track.
The Haflong Lake has been overflowing due to continuous rain, causing damage to nearby houses and the road. The District Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority requested the Chief Executive Officer of Haflong Municipal Board to clear the drain and release the lake water directly into the drains and asked the Chief Executive Officer of Haflong Municipal Board to submit an action report within 3 days.
