New Delhi [India], Dec 4 (ANI): The Ministry of Railways signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum on Tuesday for providing discounts to tourists at the National Rail Museum (NRM) and the wax museum in Delhi.
The document was signed by the Secretary of the Railway Board, Ranjanesh Sahai, and the Director and General Manager of Madame Tussauds, Anshul Jain.
The MoU aims at bolstering the footfall at both the tourist attractions in the national capital. A 35 per cent discount will be given to NRM visitors who go to the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, while 30 per cent discount will be given to the wax museum visitors on NRM combos.
Special provisions will be given to school groups, which will help in promoting railway heritage and also enable children to learn about national heroes.
"The broader vision of this collaboration is to spread the concept of a discounted single ticket for accessing more museums, even spanning over three to four days. This will not only be convenient for tourists but will also promote the tourism industry. A similar facility is already available in major tourist cities across the world," an official statement read.
The NRM has an annual footfall of more than five lakh visitors and is spread across 11 acres of land in Chanakyapuri. The Madame Tussauds wax museum, on the other hand, is located in Connaught Place and is the first wax museum in India by the renowned chain. The museum hosts the wax figurines of over 52 icons like Mahatma Gandhi and Sachin Tendulkar, amongst others. (ANI)
