Railway Board treating pending matters expeditiously: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi (India), Oct 11(ANI): Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday asserted that the Railway Board is meeting once every week and is treating all pending matters expeditiously.

Goyal while addressing the International Railway Conference said, "I am delighted that the Railway Board is meeting once every week and disposing of all pending matters expeditiously."

"Have asked all zones to immediately flag off to Railway board pending decisions so we can clear loop of things that has got accumulated in terms of decision making," he added.

Goyal further averred that to ensure safety of Railways, zonal general managers have been given unlimited powers to take decisions as and when needed.

"For safety we have given unlimited powers to all the zonal general managers to take a decision and start implementing decisions by keeping the Railway Board informed of what they are doing," he said.

Recently Indian Railways also abolished a 36-year-old protocol that requires general managers to be present at the airport and railway stations on the arrival and departure of the Railway Board Chairman and other senior board members during their regional visit. The guidelines clearly state that no one can engage lower staff as domestic help any more.(ANI)
