"Rahul Gandhi's stance on doing away with reservations is not new": Assam CM

On LoP leader Rahul Gandhi's statement in Washington DC that Congress would think of scrapping reservations when India becomes a "fair place," which it is not right now, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to platform X and wrote that Rahul Gandhi's stance with doing on reservations was not something new.

New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has criticised Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's remarks in Washington DC on reservations in the country.
"Rahul Gandhi's stance on doing away with reservations is not new; it reflects the long-standing views of the Gandhi family. He is merely echoing what Pandit Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi once advocated but failed to implement, the Assam CM wrote on social media platform X.

Further, he wrote, "The harsh reality is that three consecutive Lok Sabha defeats have driven the Congress Party into the hands of Islamists and anti-India forces. Aware that they cannot defeat Modi Ji electorally, they have allied with entities that seek to destabilise the nation. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party have repeatedly demonstrated a dangerous pattern of undermining India's national unity and scrutiny."
"India must resolutely condemn such blatant attempts to compromise our national security and remain steadfast in protecting our core values," the post read.
The Assam Chief Minister's comments came after the senior Congress leader told students of Georgetown University in the US that the Congress would think of scrapping reservations when "India is a fair place," which he said is not the case right now.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also took a strong stance against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent comments in the US, comparing his language to that of a pro-Khalistan separatist.
Dhami criticised Gandhi's remarks regarding Sikhs, accusing him of trying to harm India's culture.
Speaking to ANI, Dhami said, "Rahul Gandhi, whenever he speaks, speaks against the nation. His recent statement on Sikhs is an attempt to weaken their confidence. Sikhism was established by the great Gurus in India, and under Narendra Modi's rule, the whole of India is united. Rahul Gandhi is trying to raise doubts about the country's security apparatus."
"His language is no different from that of Pannu (a designated terrorist in India)," the CM added. (ANI)
