Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 1 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad said that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi's speech in Parliament on Monday seemed like an expression of frustration and desperation.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Prasad said, "Today, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Indian National Congress, delivered a speech in Parliament during the debate on the President's speech. The speech was marked by scathing criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government's schemes and policies. However, it seemed more like an expression of frustration and desperation from a leader struggling to come to terms with his party's dwindling fortunes."
In a statement issued by Prasad, he further added that Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP government of perpetuating lies and deceiving the nation. "He (Rahul Gandhi) targeted various schemes and policies, calling them mere showpieces with no substance. He also attacked the Prime Minister, questioning his credibility and intentions."
Prasad said that the remarks made by Gandhi lacked substance to support the claims made. "The speech lacked substance and concrete data to support the claims made. It seemed more like an emotional outburst from a leader who has failed to make an impact in the political landscape. The defeat of the Congress party in consecutive elections has clearly affected Gandhi mentally, and his speech today was a reflection of that frustration," he said.
The Tamil Nadu BJP Spokesperson further said that despite Gandhi's efforts to appear confident and assertive, his speech came across as weak and lacking in conviction. "His failure to provide viable alternatives to the BJP's policies and schemes further exposed his lack of vision and leadership.," Prasad said.
Prasad's statement further said, "In conclusion, Rahul Gandhi's speech in Parliament today was a desperate attempt to stay relevant in a political landscape that is increasingly moving away from him. His frustration and desperation were palpable, and his speech only served to reinforce the perception that he is a leader in decline."
Earlier in the day, participating in the debate on the motion of thanks on the President's Address, Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP-led government and alleged there has been "a systematic attack" on the idea of India.
"There has been a systematic and full-scale assault on the idea of India, the Constitution and on the people who resisted the attack on the Constitution. Many of us were personally attacked. Some of the leaders are still in jail. Anyone who resisted the idea of concentration of power and wealth, aggression on poor and Dalits and minorities was crushed. ..I was attacked by the order of the Government of India, by the order of the Prime Minister of India...The most enjoyable part of it was the 55 hours of interrogation by ED...," he alleged.
"Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions...All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," the Congress leader had said.
