Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 1 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks in the Lok Sabha saying the Congress leader should apologise immediately and the Congress party should clarify its stand whether it agrees with the statement or not.
CM Yadav also appealed to the National President of the Congress party to immediately ask for the resignation of Rahul Gandhi.
"I strongly condemn the statement of Rahul Gandhi, due to which the entire Hindu society has been put to shame. The way the LoP has made a statement to shame the Hindu society inside the world's largest temple of democracy, calling Hindus violent, has come to the fore as a sign of his vile mentality," CM Yadav told ANI.
Which is the country across the globe where Hindus have such a large population? The only country of Hindus in the world is India. If their own leader of the opposition will put them in shame in this way, then how can any country tolerate this, CM asked.
"The whole country is angry about this. Rahul Gandhi should apologise," the CM said.
He further said that he was proud of being Hindu and everyone's sentiments have been hurt by the Congress leader's statement.
"I am also proud that I am a Hindu and everyone is proud of being a Hindu. In such a situation, everyone's sentiments have been hurt by his statement. He (Rahul Gandhi) should apologise immediately and I appeal to the National President of Congress to immediately ask for his resignation and Congress should clarify its position whether it agrees with the statement or not," CM Yadav added.
Participating in the debate on the Motion Of Thanks to the President for her address to a joint sitting of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi on Monday said in the lower house that the BJP was not the entire Hindu society.
"Narendra Modi is not the entire Hindu society. BJP is not the entire Hindu society, RSS is not the entire society, this is not BJP's contract," he said.
"Abhaya Mudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhaya Mudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions....All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," the Congress leader added.
