Patna (Bihar) [India], October 25 (ANI): Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, on Saturday said that the people of Bihar are yearning for change, while expressing confidence in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's decision to ensure representation of Dalits and minorities in key leadership roles.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav said, "What I am seeing is that the entire Bihar wants change, the people here want change. Rahul Gandhi's decision is that we will definitely make a Dalit and a minority person the Deputy Chief Minister. There is no debate in this."
Yadav's comments come after Vikassheel Insaan Party's Mukesh Sahani was declared as the Mahagathbandhan's Deputy CM nominee for the state polls.
The Mallah, Nishad, and Sahni communities constitute a significant vote bank of the Vikassheel Insaan Party.
On Friday, Sahani lashed out at the BJP, asking why they are troubled if a "son of Mallah" community has aspirations to become a Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the opposition Mahagathbandhan and said the Bihar election is not about making someone MLA, Minister, or Chief Minister, but about ensuring that "jungle raj does not return to Bihar".
Addressing an election rally in Munger, Amit Shah said the government is planning to establish an airport in Munger and that the district will also be linked with the Ramayan Circuit.
"This election is not about making someone MLA, Minister, or Chief Minister, but about ensuring that Jungle Raj does not return to Bihar. The government of Lalu and Rabri practiced Jungle Raj for many years, leading to the destruction of Bihar... Bihar is moving forward on the path of development under the leadership of PM Modi and Nitish Kumar... If Lalu-Rabri return, then jungle raj will also return," he said.
Amit Shah also said that the NDA is fighting the polls under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
"All five parties of the NDA will fight these elections like the five Pandavas with unity. On the other hand, due to ticket distribution, there has been turmoil within the Mahagathbandhan. They neither have a leader nor an intention or leadership. We are fighting this election under the leadership of Nitish Kumar," he said.
The voting for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the results will be declared on November 14.
The main contest is between the ruling Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led NDA and the RJD-led opposition alliance 'Mahagathbandhan. (ANI)
