New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra hit out at the Congress Party for continuously opposing the Special Intensive Review (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar and said that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi "attacked all the constitutional institutions" intending to create chaos in the country.
The BJP leader accused the opposition party of disrespecting constitutional institutions and spreading chaos for political gains. Reacting to the INDI bloc leaders' press conference, Sambit Patra said the opposition had repeatedly undermined national institutions, the judiciary, and even the armed forces.
"There is no constitutional institution in the country that has not been attacked by the Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi, the Gandhi family and every dynastic party around them... They are the same people who raised a finger on the Supreme Court when a verdict was given in favour of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir... They have even called the Indian Army Chief a goon, attacked the army and demanded evidence after Op Sindoor and air strikes... They think the PM's chair is a throne, which is their birthright. It is not a heritage, it is earned through service..." Patra said in a press conference.
The BJP leader further alleged that the Congress MP viewed power as their inheritance, saying, "They think the PM's chair is a throne, which is their birthright. It is not a heritage, it is earned through service."
The BJP spokesperson criticised Congress's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', saying, "Nothing is going to happen with the Yatras being done by Congress and other opposition parties," he said.
He also accused the Opposition party of targeting the E of 'vote theft' and said that it's disappointing that a fodder thief and a family that stole every other element in the country are alleging a constitutional body.
"It is disappointing that a fodder thief and a family that stole every other element in the country are alleging a constitutional body of theft. Yesterday Election Commission did a press conference and gave a technical rebuttal point by point. The opposition wants an environment of chaos in the country and hence gains from it politically," Patra added in a press briefing.
This statement of Patra came after the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) leaders continued their protest in Parliament premises against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar on Monday.
The protests have continued despite the Election Commission clarifying on the allegations on Sunday, while also asking Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to submit a signed affidavit with proof of his claims of election rigging.
MPs, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, Kanimozhi and others, protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and allegations of 'vote chori' against the BJP and the Election Commission of India.
The opposition parties have been protesting against the revision of voter lists since the commencement of the Parliament monsoon session on July 21, with the treasury benches accusing the Opposition of disrupting Parliament proceedings.
Calling the ongoing exercise 'Silent Invisible Rigging' of votes, the INDIA bloc leaders held banners calling for the stop of 'Vote chori'. (ANI)
