New Delhi [India], Aug 5 (ANI): Mumbai Congress president Milind Deora on Monday called for political differences to be put aside on the issue of scrapping Article 370 while asserting that India's interest should be prioritised.
"Unfortunate that Article 370 is being converted into liberal versus conservative debate. Parties should put aside ideological fixations and debate what's best for India's sovereignty, peace in Jammu and Kashmir, jobs for Kashmiri youth and justice for Kashmiri Pandits" Deora tweeted.
Earlier in the day, he had compared the abolishment of Article 370 with the earlier reform of demonetisation and said, "Abolishing Article 370 of the Indian Constitution could well be dubbed Modi Sarkar 2.0's demonetisation moment. For the sake of peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir, I hope this decision plays out more favourably than demonetisation did".
The Centre on Monday repealed Article 370 which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and a resolution in this regard was moved in the Rajya Sabha by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, amidst uproar by the opposition in the Upper House. (ANI)
