Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 30 (ANI): AIADMK General Secretary Edapaddi K Palaniswami on Tuesday slammed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin over the alleged sexual assault of a woman by police officers in Tiruvannamalai.
Questioning the situation of women's safety in the State, the AIADMK leader described Stalin a "puppet CM"
EPS alleged that two police officers had sexually assaulted a woman in front of her sister.
Sharing a post on social media platform X, the AIADMK leader wrote, "The news that police officers Suresh Raj and Sundar from the East Police Station in the Thoppu area of Tiruvannamalai Outer Ring Road brutally subjected a young woman to sexual assault in front of her sister is deeply shocking. This is the horrific pinnacle of the deplorable state of women's security."
Demanding a response from Chief Minister Stalin, the EPS wrote on X, "What response does this puppet Chief Minister have for the atrocity inflicted on a woman by the very police officers who are supposed to ensure women's safety?"
Condemning the "Stalin-model" he said that the ruling DMK government has pushed women in a position where they have to protect themselves from the police.
EPS wrote, "The DMK government of this puppet Chief Minister must hang its head in shame for this disgraceful situation. I strongly condemn the Stalin-model DMK government for pushing women into a position where they must protect themselves from the very police department that is supposed to be their shield."
The AIADMK leader has demanded proper medical treatment for the woman and strict legal action against the perpetrators in the case.
"I urge the Stalin-model DMK government to ensure proper medical treatment for the woman admitted to the hospital and to take stringent legal action against the police officers who have turned into predators," EPS wrote. (ANI)
