Punjab: Two gangsters arrested after encounter with Mohali police

Two gangsters were arrested following an encounter with Mohali police at SAS Nagar in Mohali in Punjab on Thursday, officials said.

Mohali (Punjab) [India], December 21 (ANI): Two gangsters were arrested following an encounter with Mohali police at SAS Nagar in Mohali in Punjab on Thursday, officials said.
The accused have been identified as Brijpal and Pradeep alias Shanti, both residents of Narayangarh, Ambala.

"Two accused - Brijpal and Pradeep alias Shanti, residents of Narayangarh, Ambala wanted in several cases arrested following an encounter. Around 1 to 1.5 months people are getting the threat calls. They had come here to open fire at a property dealer," Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg said.
He further said that police have been receiving many complaints from the people that they have been receiving threat calls.
"Many people were complaining from the area where this encounter took place that they were receiving threat calls, after which Mohali Police was on full alert. Today Mohali police got information that both these gangsters were roaming in this area on a motorcycle without a number plate," he added.
Mohali SSP further said that in retaliatory firing by police, the accused got injured and have been admitted to hospital and are out of danger.
"Police asked them to stop their motorcycle but they tried to run away. In retaliatory firing by police, they got injured and have been admitted to civil hospital and are undergoing treatment. The doctor has informed that both of them are out of danger," he added.
Mohali SSP further said that out of three people we have arrested two.
"During the investigation, it is being revealed that earlier on December 8 an incident took place in Kurali at the house of Kamaljeet where they were seen firing. They also threw threatening letters at Kamaljeet's house. Out of three people we have arrested two," he said.
Further investigation is underway. (ANI)
