Punjab Police bust terror module, arrest 5

SAS Nagar (Punjab) [India], Mar 31 (ANI): The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) on Sunday arrested five "highly radicalised and motivated youth" who were allegedly planning to kill specific targets including Hindu leaders and members of Dera Sacha Sauda.

Police said terrorists were planning to kill specific targets including Hindu leaders and members of Dera Sacha Sauda.

SAS Nagar (Punjab) [India], Mar 31 (ANI): The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) on Sunday arrested five "highly radicalised and motivated youth" who were allegedly planning to kill specific targets including Hindu leaders and members of Dera Sacha Sauda.
In a press release, Assistant Inspector General (AIG), SSOC, SAS Nagar Varinder Paul Singh said: "Acting on the direction given by the Director General of Police (DGP), Intelligence, VK Bhawra, the Special Cell on Sunday busted a militant module, which comprises highly radicalised and motivated youth."
"Special Cell has arrested Harvinder Singh, Sultan Singh, Karamjeet Singh, Lovepreet Singh, and Gurpreet Singh. A pistol of .32 bore along with magazine and four live rounds, and 15 letter pads of Babbar Khalsa International have been recovered from them," the release read.
Varinder further said, "They were planning to kill specific targets including Hindu leaders and members of Dera Sacha Sauda, who were responsible for incidents of sacrilege and desecration."
"After radicalisation over social media platforms created by suspected foreign-based individuals based in Europe, these persons organised several meetings and were planning to indulge in the various type of violent actions to disturb the peace and communal harmony in the state," he said.
"These highly radicalised and desperate youth were in process of mobilisation of funds, and already had procured weapons and are planning to arrange weapon training in Jammu and Kashmir. They were also in touch with militants including Jagtar Singh Hawara of Babbar Khalsa who is lodged in jail, Ranjit Singh Pakhoke, an active member of Khalistan Tiger Force, residing in Germany."
A case has been registered against them at police station SSOC, SAS Nagar. The police are further investigation to unravel the entire conspiracy and network of operatives based in India and abroad. (ANI)
