Punjab: Police arrests man in Kharar triple murder case

Kharar Police in Punjab's Mohali district arrested an accused who killed his brother, sister-in-law and nephew, said police.

Mohali (Punjab) [India], October 13 (ANI): Kharar Police in Punjab's Mohali district arrested an accused who killed his brother, sister-in-law and nephew, said police.
The incident took place on Tuesday night when the accused, identified as Lakhbir Singh, murdered his own brother and sister-in-law and then threw away their bodies into the Ropar-Bhakhra canal along with his alive nephew (around 2 years old).
The deceased have been identified as Satbir Singh (35) (brother), Amandeep Kaur (33) (sister-in-law) and Anhad (nephew).
"The accused is Lakhbir Singh who is a resident of Global City, Jhuggian Road and he murdered his brother, sister-in-law and nephew," said Kharar DSP Karan Sandhu.
"Lakhbir Singh has been arrested and his sister-in-law's body has been recovered," he added.
A case has been registered into the matter and further investigation is underway, said DSP Sandhu.
Another accused in the case, identified as Gurdeep Singh, who is a friend of Lakhbir is reportedly absconding.
The weapons and the car used in the triple murder have been recovered by the police.
Search operations for the bodies of Satbir and Anhad are still underway. (ANI)
