Amritsar (Punjab) [India], Oct 22 (ANI): The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday launched a scathing attack on Congress-led Punjab government and said that they are on mission to cover-up the Amritsar train accident.
Badal said, "Congress senior leaders including ministers are involved in this case. With the attitude of the government, it looks like they are on a mission to cover-up. There is no remorse, no regret and no seriousness in Punjab Government."
He also outlined Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh's visit to Israel and termed it as unfortunate.
"Such big unfortunate state had happened in the state and CM has gone abroad to Tel Aviv which shows their seriousness. Senior leaders who organised the event ran away immediately after the accident, rather than helping people. It is very unfortunate," he said.
Badal also criticised Punjab government for not registering a case against any named individual in connection with Amritsar train accident and said, "The whole case looks like a cover-up. As many as 60 people have died but there is no one named in the case. Filing case against unidentified people means they are doing a cover-up. People who are fighting for justice, the people who were protesting, on those cases of 307 have been registered."
59 people were killed after a train crushed Dussehra revellers while they were watching an effigy of Ravana being burnt near Dhobi Ghat ground in Amritsar. (ANI)
