Ludhiana (Punjab) [India] Jan 26 (ANI): A cop allegedly committed suicide on Friday here during a flag hoisting ceremony.
The deceased has been identified as Manjeet Ram, who was posted as a driver and gunman with the Station House Office (SHO) Jagraon city.
He committed suicide during the Republic Day function at Jagraon by shooting himself with his service AK- 47 rifle, said police.
The incident happened when Manjeet was sitting in his vehicle outside the venue.
He was rushed to the Jagraon city hospital where he was declared brought dead, said police.
Later, Jagraon SHO Inderjeet Singh told media that it is being investigated whether Manjeet shot himself or his rifle went off accidently. (ANI)
