Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], October 29 (ANI): Punjab Police, in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Police, have arrested two shooters in Lucknow. Both are wanted for serious murders in Punjab, including a key accused in the Ferozepur triple murder case.
The Director General of Punjab Police, Gaurav Yadav, said, "The arrested accused are: Bikramjit alias Vicky, accused in the murder of Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Mahal in Tarn Taran, which took place in March 2024. Punjab Singh is the key accused in the triple murder in Ferozepur in September 2024."

As per Punjab Police, both suspects have extensive criminal records with multiple serious offences. They were reportedly operating under the direction of gangsters based abroad. "Punjab Police is fully committed to destroying the organised criminal networks in Punjab," the statement added.
On October 27, in one of the largest Heroin busts in Punjab, Police seized 105 kg heroin, 31.93 kg caffeine anhydrous, and 5 foreign made Pistols & 1 Desi Katta, dismantling a cross-border smuggling network. Two key associates of Turkey-based drug trafficker Nav Bhullar were arrested. The water-route was used to transport drugs from Pakistan. Big rubber tubes of tyres have also been recovered, indicating that narcotic contrabands have been smuggled through water route. Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar have been arrested. FIR was registered at PS State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar. Investigation on-going to establish backward and forward linkages to arrest more criminals involved in the drug cartel.
On October 26, in a major breakthrough, Mumbai Police in a joint operation with Punjab Police apprehended Sujeet Sushil Singh, resident of Mumbai, wanted in high profile murder of Baba Siddique. Sujeet was involved in the murder conspiracy and was informed about the plan to kill Baba Siddique three days in advance by Nitin Gautan Sapre-another accused. He also provided logistical assistance. He has been handed over to Mumbai Police for further investigation.
On October 25, a significant milestone was achieved by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and Gurdaspur Police with the preventive detention under PITS-NDPS Act of top smuggler Avtar Singh aka Tari from the border district of Gurdaspur. This marks Punjab's first successful use of the stringent provisions of the PITS-NDPS Act, which allows for preventive detention in narcotics-related cases. Tari has been detained under PIT-NDPS Act for 2 years and sent to Central Jail Bathinda, showcasing a strong step in Punjab's ongoing efforts to curb drug smuggling and make the state drug-free.
