Maeer's MIT School

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], July 5 (ANI): Facing strong protests from parents and children, Pune’s Maeer's MIT School on Thursday withdrew its order which asked girl students to wear innerwear of a specific colour.
The withdrawal came shortly after Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde made a statement saying that a committee would be sent to the school and further action will be taken on it.
"On complaint from parents and students, Pune's Deputy Director of Education has been directed to send a committee to the school. On the committee's report education department will take steps," Tawde told ANI.
The school authority on Tuesday had asked girl students to wear innerwears of a specific colour. They had also specified the length of the skirt to be worn by them. The order led to a strong protest by parents and students who felt that the school was intruding into their privacy and getting too far with the rules and regulations.
However, the school authorities clarified that the intention behind the order was “very pure” and the new rule was for the safety of girl students. “We had some experiences in the past which made us take this decision. We didn't have any hidden agenda," said Dr. Suchitra Karad Nagare, Executive director of MIT Group of Institute. (ANI)
