Pune (Maharashtra) [India], May 23 (ANI): The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) cancelled the bail of the 17-year-old boy accused of mowing down a biker and a pillion rider in his Porsche.
The accused was sent to a remand home for 14 days, until June 5.
Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, shared the development in the case saying, "We had filed in a review application before the Juvenile Justice Board, praying that the accused be tried as an adult and that he be sent to a remand home."
"The operative order was communicated to us by the Juvenile Justice Board and the accused was sent to the remand home for 14 days until June 5. The orders in respect of him being tried as an adult will follow in due course," the police commissioner said.

Advocate Prashant Patil, representing the 17-year-old accused, also spoke on the case saying, "The investigating agencies filed a review application before the honourable Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on Wednesday."
"The board comprised three members, and the investigating agencies requested the board to detain the child in conflicting law (CCL) and commit home to a remand home. The application was made, and they argued at length. We opposed the application. Certain SC judgements directly address this particular issue where we pointed out to the court that this particular application of review is not maintainable under 104 of the Juvenile Justice Act," he said.
"Our second submission, purely academic, was that the order granted by this honourable court on May 19, 2024, was legal. Today, the honourable Juvenile Justice Board directed the child to be detained in a rehab," he added.
Meanwhile, the father of the minor accused in the accident involving a luxury vehicle in Pune was sent to police custody until May 24.
People threw ink at the police van in which the accused's father was brought to court for the hearing.
The Juvenile Justice Board also issued a notice to the 17-year-old accused in the case, asking him to appear before them on Wednesday.
Two young IT professionals, identified as Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhia, both from Madhya Pradesh, were killed in the accident that took place in Pune's Kalyani Nagar on Sunday (May 19).
Police sought the custody of the staff of the bar where the accused teenager and his friend were served liquor.
Allegedly, the 17-year-old minor later crashed his luxury car into a motorcycle, killing two persons in Pune.
The police, during their investigation, also found that there was no board on the premises of the bar that said alcohol couldn't be served to minors.
Advocate Asim Saraode said the court rejected the basis on which the father was asking for bail and granted him judicial custody till May 24.
The father of the juvenile accused was detained on May 21.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 19 when a luxury car, driven by the accused juvenile, collided with a motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar in Pune.
The juvenile driver was apprehended but later given bail by the Juvenile Justice Board.
Earlier, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson, Priyank Kanoongo, urged activists and media personnel to refrain from revealing the identity of the minor accused in the Pune car accident case. He emphasized that doing so would be a crime under the Juvenile Justice Act, which prohibits disclosing the identity of juvenile offenders or victims.
On May 21, Pune Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar firmly stated that the police have taken stringent measures in response to the accident involving the luxury race car. (ANI)
