New Delhi [India], Feb 5 (ANI): Popular online games such as Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto, God of War, Hitman, Plague Inc and Pokemon have drawn flak from the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) with the child rights body issuing an advisory flagging these games for their violent and sexual content and its potential negative impact on children.
"These games are full of misogyny, hate, deceit, and vengeance and at an age where a child learns from that he or she sees, it may negatively impact their brain for their life," a note issued by DCPCR on Monday said.
The child rights body has sent the missive to the Directorate of Education in the city, to be sent to heads of all schools under it, to discuss the directives in morning assemblies as well as in PTA meetings and to share within 20 days the feedback it received from schools.
DCPCR member Ranjana Prasad said parents and school authorities should be aware of the signs and symptoms that negatively impact children who play online games. These include being withdrawn, showing a loss in activities they used to enjoy, a persistent low mood and sudden outbursts of anger among others.
Recently an 11-year-old boy had moved the Bombay High Court seeking a ban on PUBG, the online game where two or more online partners play on the backdrop of a battlefield. (ANI)
