Dibrugarh (Assam) [India], August 24 (ANI): After Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the Moon's surface, making India the first to land near the Moon's South Pole, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday said that it is a proud moment for every Indian today.
"My heartiest congratulations to the entire team at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on the successful lunar landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the moon today. This success reflects not only a huge step for humanity but has also boosted scientific thinking among the young minds of India," Sonowal said.
He also said that the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always encouraged the scientific community to strive for more.
"The historic success of Chandrayaan-3 has yet again proved the unstoppable march of India’s scientific prowess. Under PM Modi's relentless pursuit to put the tricolour on the Moon, India's long and rich history of space research has reached a new height with this success - consolidating its global leadership in space technology. My deepest gratitude to the talented scientists, engineers, technicians, and support staff who contributed their expertise to make this mission a resounding success. I firmly believe the achievement will inspire and ignite the passion for exploration in every Indian," Sarbananda Sonowal said.
The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Chandrayaan-3 mission landed successfully after a 40-day journey starting from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.
India's success in landing the spacecraft on the Moon's south pole comes days after a Russian probe Luna-25 crashed in the same region.
Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft put down the Vikram lander on the lunar surface, descending and tilted to a horizontal position ahead of landing.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission is the follow-up to the Chandrayaan-2 mission of 2019 when the Vikram lander crashed into the lunar surface. (ANI)
