Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], September 1 (ANI): Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Monday said that the entire country and the INDIA alliance are standing together to protest against what he called an attack on India's democratic system through 'vote theft.'
Pilot said people want their rights protected and will not tolerate repeated attacks on the democratic system.
Speaking to the reporters, Sachin Pilot said, "Today Rahul Gandhi is leading a yatra in Patna against vote theft. We are all standing with the people. The people want their rights not to be snatched away."
"The people of the whole country, the entire INDIA alliance, are standing forward under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi in protest against the attack on our democratic system through vote theft. We will not tolerate this. The entire country has come together against the repeated attempts to come to power through vote theft," he added.
"Rahul Gandhi's journey has been very successful throughout Bihar. Its message has reached the entire country, and people have understood that the theft being done regarding votes is a matter of snatching a very big right from the voters. The government should pay attention to this... This has become a very big issue for the country," he said.
The remarks came as the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Bihar, is set to conclude today in Patna. The yatra will end with a grand procession in Patna, starting from Gandhi Maidan and concluding at the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Launched on August 17 from Sasaram, the yatra has covered over 1,300 kilometres, passing through 110 assembly constituencies across 25 districts in the state.
Senior opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Tejashwi Yadav, and other leaders of the INDIA bloc, are expected to participate in the march.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders Yusuf Pathan and Lalitesh Pati Tripathi are also set to join the Yatra.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that he will also join Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav in Patna for the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', which is set to conclude.
Multiple other INDIA bloc leaders have attended the yatra at various points. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin have joined the rally.
Other chief ministers, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, also participated in the yatra. (ANI)
