Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Mar 24 (ANI): Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi's campaign schedule in Faizabad, Raebareli, Amethi and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh stands delayed by a day and she is expected to start her tour on March 27, party sources said.
She is likely to begin her programme from Faizabad and proceed to the Congress bastions of Raebareli and Amethi for the first time in her capacity as general secretary in-charge of eartern Uttar Pradesh, they said.
Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and party president Rahul Gandhi are sitting MPs from Raebareli and Amethi Lok Sabha seats respectively. Priyanka Gandhi has campaigned in two constituencies several times in the past but not as a party functionary.
Her tour is likely to conclude at Unnao on March 29, the party sources said. Earlier, her two-day programme was scheduled from March 26.
Priyanka Gandhi would extensively tour the four districts, they said.
Her three-day Ganga Yatra had ended on Wednesday in Varanasi, the Lok Sabha seat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She undertook a 140-kilometre boat journey from Prayagraj to Varanasi.
The party has fielded former MP Nirmal Khatri from Faizabad and Annu Tandon from Unnao.
The SP-BSP-RLD alliance in the state has left two seats, Raebareli and Amethi, for Congress.
The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. UP will vote in all the phases on April 11, 18, 23, 29 and May 6, 12 and 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
There are 80 Lok Sabha seats at stake in UP. (ANI)
