Prisoners celebrate Rakhi festival at Central Jails in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal Central Jail Superintendent Rakesh Kumar said, “We have made special arrangements for the Rakhi festival so that there will be no problem in meeting the prisoners. This year the number of visitors is much higher than that of previous years because prisoners were not able to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan in jail for many years due to Covid-19.”

Bhopal/ Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 30 (ANI): Prisoners in Bhopal central jail and Indore central jail celebrated the Raksha Bandhan festival on Wednesday.
On the occasion, special arrangements were made by the jail administration so that no problems would occur in meeting the women with their brothers.
Bhopal Central Jail Superintendent Rakesh Kumar said, “We have made special arrangements for the Rakhi festival so that there will be no problem in meeting the prisoners. This year the number of visitors is much higher than that of previous years because prisoners were not able to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan in jail for many years due to Covid-19.”
Therefore, scores of women are visiting the jail to celebrate the festival. 20 minutes of time has been arranged for the meeting of the brother and sister here. There are over 3000 prisoners in jail. Whoever visited from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, were allowed to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan, he added.
Meanwhile in Indore also from 8 am onwards, the women visited the jail to tie rakhi to their brothers lodged in the jail and brothers of women prisoners reached to get rakhi tied.

“According to the orders of the state government, the arrival of women and men in the jail to celebrate the festival of Rakhi had started from the morning itself. The sisters tied rakhis to around 1200 male prisoners and 20 brothers had visited to get rakhi tied from women prisoners in the jail till evening,” Indore Central Jail Superintendent Dr Alka Sonkar said.
Both brothers and sisters offered sweets to each other and celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan on the occasion. (ANI).
