Kota (Rajasthan) [India], Dec 2 (ANI): Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday fired a fresh salvo at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating the saffron party gave "three Modis to the nation, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and the one sitting in Ambani's lap Narendra Modi."
Addressing an election rally at Ramganj Mandi here, Navjot Singh Sidhu said, "Congress gave us four Gandhis, Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi. But the BJP gave us three Modis, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and the one sitting in Ambani's lap Narendra Modi."
The Cabinet Minister further said, "It was the Congress who made this country free from the British rule. You cannot question history. The dream of Independence became possible because of leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Abul Kalam Azad, and Sardar Patel."
"Democracy is run by goons under the rule of BJP," Sidhu added.
Highlighting the problem faced by farmers and loans waiver schemes meant for them, Sidhu asserted, "Farmers are like turban of the Congress. They are our pride. I am upset over the fact that nothing was done for our farmers in the last five years under the BJP's rule. Farmers produced around 38 lakh metric tonne of grains, but Vasundhara Raje purchased only 4 lakh tonne as per the minimum support price (MSP) and 34 lakh tonne was taken away by the middlemen."
"This is my promise that if the Congress comes to power in Rajasthan, farmers will be free from debts. We will provide 24x7 free electricity supply to farmers. Farmers' bad phase will be over with the formation of the government in the state," he added.
Claiming that he has a message from Rahul Gandhi to deliver to the people, Sidhu said, "Congress president has asked me to pass a message on to you. Farmers will be made debt-free; electricity rate will be reduced by 50 per cent and the BJP will be clean bowled."
Continuing his tirade against Prime Minister Modi and BJP governments in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sidhu stated, "Rape incidents occur mostly in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh...Is this 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padahao Andolan of the BJP?"
Sidhu further asked the gathering about the promises made by Prime Minister Modi before coming to power at the Centre, "Is black money back? Did you get Rs 15 lakh in your account? Is Ganga clean now? Did you get two crore jobs? Did he run any bullet train? Then what he did? Nothing, because he just made fake promises."
Criticising Prime Minister Modi's 'Make in India' initiative, Sidhu said, "Bullet train is coming from Japan; Rafael jet is coming from France; a statue of Sardar Patel came from China. If everything is coming from abroad, then what is India making-pakode?"
Taking a note of rising corruption in the country, the Punjab Cabinet Minister asked, "Why Rs 500 crore Rafael jet was purchased for Rs 1,500 crore? Why 1,250 acres land was given for Rs 400 crore to Ambani, which Ambani later sold for Rs 4,000 crore?"
Claiming the BJP is not faithful to the people of the nation, Sidhu said, "Even 'chowkidar's (Prime Minister) dog is not loyal. He is also a chor (thief). And Yogi is the biggest 'Bhogi'." "Yogi says that they will construct Ram Mandir but where is the date? BJP cannot divide people in the name of Ram Mandir. We all are Hindustanis first," he added.
Navjot Singh Sidhu also launched an attack on Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, stating, "Gas cylinder was supposed to be provided for Rs 400 under the Ujjawala scheme but Vasundhara is offering it for Rs 1,000. Also, the rates of electricity, water, petrol, and diesel were hiked under her leadership."
The 200 members Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections in Rajasthan are scheduled to be held on December 7 in a single phase. The counting of votes will take place on December 11. (ANI)
