Pradhan meets Goyal to facilitate expeditious disbursal of crop insurance dues

New Delhi [India], July 31 (ANI): Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday met Union Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram among others to facilitate the expeditious disbursal of claims of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the farmers in Odisha.

New Delhi [India], July 31 (ANI): Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday met Union Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram among others to facilitate the expeditious disbursal of claims of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the farmers in Odisha.
"It was ascertained that claims made through the Agricultural Insurance Company (AIC) was settled. Rs 154 crore out of the total Rs 156 crore has already been paid. Claims concerning National Insurance Company Limited is at an advanced stage of payment," Pradhan tweeted.
"Out of the total claim of Rs 798 crore with National Insurance Company Limited, Rs 199 crore has already been paid. Insurance claims worth Rs 352 crore for the Kharif season 2017 will be paid shortly and the balance Rs 173 cr is also being processed for a quick settlement," he added.
Pradhan said a high-level committee having representatives from Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India, DFS Govt. of Odisha and representatives from various insurance companies shall be formed to look into the contested claims of Rs 73 crore of the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL).
"The committee will also look after all pending claims of private insurers," he added.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is the government sponsored crop insurance scheme that integrates multiple stakeholders on a single platform. (ANI)
