New Delhi [India], February 5 (ANI): Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, cast his vote in the Delhi Assembly polls at a polling booth in Raj Niwas Marg on Wednesday. He said that he wanted the people of Delhi to create a record in the voting.
"I have appealed to the people of Delhi to vote in large numbers. I want the people of Delhi to create a record in the voting," Saxena told ANI after casting his vote at the polling booth in St Xavier's School.
He emphasised that this election is crucial in deciding the future of the city, citing pressing issues like pollution, garbage management, and the cleaning of the Yamuna River.
"I am confident that the people of Delhi will vote in large numbers and choose their government. It is also important because it decides what you want in your city. There are many things in Delhi that are on people's radar. Pollution is a big issue, garbage mountains are a big issue, cleaning of Yamuna is a big issue. There are many issues that I think the public will have to keep in mind. I am sure people are voting to keep all these issues in mind," he added.
Saxena's wife, Sangita Saxena, also cast her vote, emphasising the need for Delhi's all-round development. She encouraged citizens to vote abundantly, reminding them that "this is not a holiday but a day of duty."
"I have voted keeping in mind the development of Delhi. Delhi needs all-round development. Take any issue, Delhi needs a lot of development in it, water, air, security, pollution, traffic, everything and I just want to appeal to the citizens of Delhi that please come out of your homes and vote in abundance. Ask your family and friends. They should not sit at home. This is not a holiday but a day of duty. Please come out and vote," she said.
