Police to question teenage accused arrested after encounter about his motives, how he acquired pistol: DCP Northeast

DCP Northeast Joy N Tirkey said that the teenage criminal who was arrested after an encounter broke out between police and criminals in Jheel Park of Welcome police station area on Saturday afternoon would be questioned from where he acquired the pistol and what was his motive behind carrying the weapon.

New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): DCP Northeast Joy N Tirkey said that the teenage criminal who was arrested after an encounter broke out between police and criminals in Jheel Park of Welcome police station area on Saturday afternoon would be questioned from where he acquired the pistol and what was his motive behind carrying the weapon.
DCP Joy N Tirkey said, "Around 12:30 pm, the team received information that a notorious criminal is carrying a weapon and is roaming around. He is an 18 or 19-year-old desperate criminal against whom two cases of murder, two cases of attempt to murder, one robbery, and one case of sodomy (POCSO) are registered. When the police challenged him, he fired two bullets at the police in an attempt to escape. In retaliation, he got shot in the leg. He has been admitted to the hospital. He will be questioned."
He further said that a pistol had been recovered from him.
"A pistol (7.65 mm) has been recovered from him. In the magazine, two rounds of bullets were left. We will question from where he acquired the pistol and what was his intention. We will soon find out if he is linked to any gang," he added.
Earlier a man wanted in 7 criminal cases, including 2 cases of murder was arrested after a brief exchange of fire in Welcome on Saturday. The accused sustained a gunshot injury in a retaliatory police fire on his right leg. One 7.65 mm pistol with 2 live rounds was recovered from him.
Delhi Police officials said that the accused Imran Kala (18) resided at Janta Majdoor Colony, Welcome.
Police officials further said that he was taken to Jag Pravesh Hospital, from where he was referred to GTB Hospital, where he is being treated for his wounds.
A case under relevant sections is being registered in this regard. The accused is being interrogated.
