Police Commemoration Day: Adityanath pays homage to martyrs

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Oct 21 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid homage to the martyrs on 'Police Memorial' at Reserve Police Lines here on Sunday on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.
"On the occasion of Police Memorial Day, I pay homage to all the martyred policemen in the country, including 67 brave policemen from Uttar Pradesh," Adtiyanath said.
"On this day, I would like to urge these brave police personnel to implement their duties with complete honesty and dedication. The state government is expediting the recruitment process in order to deal with manpower issues," he added.
The Police Commemoration Day is observed on this day every year in memory of the policemen martyred at Hot Springs in Ladakh by Chinese troops on October 21, 1959.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured the survivors of 1959 Ladakh's Hot Spring attack, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.
Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani paid tributes to the policemen killed in an ambush by Chinese troops, who had violated Indian Territory in Aksai Chin area, on this day in 1959.
The Prime Minister, marking the National Police Commemoration Day also inaugurated a 30-feet-tall and 238-tonne heavy black granite central sculpture honouring the slain troopers, a museum and a wall of valour bearing the names of over 34,800 martyred personnel. (ANI)
