Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 29 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday appealed to the public to participate in and witness the Mahakal Sawari in Ujjain, highlighting that the police band performance in today's procession would add charm to the event.
CM Yadav told ANI, "I announced the formation of a police band in every district of Madhya Pradesh. This year, Independence Day on August 15 will be celebrated in all 55 districts of the state with their own police band. The police personnel will return to their respective districts after completing their band training."
Today is the last day of training for the Police Band, culminating in their participation in the Mahakal Sawari. Around 350 police personnel, skilled in playing various instruments, have gathered in Ujjain. Yesterday, they trained without instruments, and today their final training will be with instruments. History will be made in Ujjain as a large number of police personnel participate in the Mahakal Sawari with their instruments, CM Yadav said.
"We have sent around 20 master trainers to Hyderabad, where they received training from various police companies. After the final training, the police personnel will depart for their respective districts. Today's performance of the police band will add charm to the Mahakal Sawari. I appeal to the public to participate in this ceremony, and those who cannot attend should witness it through video," he added.
Notably, there is a tradition of taking out Baba Mahakal's sawari (procession) every Monday during the month of Sawan. It is believed that Baba Mahakal tours the city to understand the condition of the public. Devotees wait for hours along the roadside to witness the procession and consider themselves blessed by getting a glimpse of Baba Mahakal. (ANI)
