Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) [India], June 2 (ANI): Police have arrested Pradip Roy, the prime accused in the Ramakrishna Mission land-grabbing case in Jalpaiguri, after a 13-day gap.
Bhaktinagar police of Siliguri Metropolitan Police (SMP) arrested Pradip Roy on Saturday night.
Pradip Roy has been booked under sections 457, 427, 325, 379, 395, 506, and 120(B). He was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Sunday and has been remanded to three days of police custody.
Meanwhile, while speaking to ANI, BJP Siliguri MLA Sankar Ghosh, alleged that Pradip Roy was not the main accused and that the man behind Pradip Roy was the main culprit.
" The criminals are flourishing like anything. Pradip Roy is not the main accused, the man behind Pradip Roy is the main culprit," the BJP Siliguri MLA told ANI.

The BJP MLA also accused the police of colluding with criminals.
" I think nobody is safe under the leadership of the Trinamool Congress and the police is working hand in hand with criminals. Again, I'm saying it is not Pradip Roy but the man behind Pradip Roy (is the one) who guided him to grab this land, he (referring to the man behind Pradip Roy) should be booked. Pradip Roy cannot target this kind of property. The role of police should be under investigation," BJP Siliguri MLA added.
Notably, Pradip Roy and eight others attacked the Ramakrishna Mission on May 19 at midnight. They allegedly vandalised CCTV cameras and tortured some monks in the ashram.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the attack on the Ramakrishna Mission.
Earlier, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police (SMP) had arrested nine people in connection with the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram vandalization and land-grabbing case. (ANI)
