Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 5 (ANI): Director of a recently released 'The Vaccine War' movie Vivek Agnihotri on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the PM hailed the movie in his recent speech.
Agnihotri also said that PM Modi should also be praised that the vaccine was made under his leadership. Earlier today, PM Modi talked about the film and congratulated the makers of the film while addressing the public in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Helmed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri 'The Vaccine War' movie starring Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher and Raima Sen released in theatres on September 28.
Speaking to ANI, Agnihotri said, "I had come to Bhopal for a function, when I came out from there I came to know that PM Modi had talked about our film. Actually, Modi should also be praised that the vaccine was made under his leadership. He has empowered our scientists and the scientific world so much that today India has scaled great heights and the sky has not the limit is becoming true."
PM Modi had said, "I have heard that a film 'The Vaccine War' has come. The scientists of our country worked hard day and night to fight COVID-19 in India. All these things have been shown in that film. I congratulate the makers of this film for giving importance to scientists and science by making this film."
The filmmaker said that during March 2020, every person in the world was thinking about death, especially in India, everyone felt that the medical infrastructure here was so poor, so during that time everyone was thinking about death. But when the vaccine was prepared after nine-ten months, people started thinking about living life.
In Indian tradition, the one who saves life is considered as God, but nobody does not even know who those people (scientists) were, who were risking their lives to make the vaccine to save lives of people. You will be surprised to know that 70 percent of the heroes (Scientists) locked in the lab were women. But no one ever makes films on such subjects, he said.
"We decided that we would make this film because if we did not make this film then no one else would make it. After watching this movie, you will cry and laugh and when you come out, your heart will fill with pride for India. You will leave the theatre with the one feeling that India can do it," Agnihotri said.
He further said that India's leadership, IAS officers, doctors and so many people of India were involved in this story but he had made the film only on a part of the story, which was science.
"We are very excited and encouraged by what PM Modi said today. I hope that when the people of India watch this film 'The Vaccine Var' of these heroes, they will be proud and will tell their children that they should also become like this. This is a film that will give a new excitement, enthusiasm and new confidence to India. I thanked PM Modi a lot," the film director said.
Whoever is coming after watching this film is praising it a lot. Yes, probably not as many people are watching as they watch popular Bollywood movies. Such films run slowly. But the box office number can never be a criterion for the creative quality of a film or its impact on society, Agnihotri said.
This film will remain imprinted in the minds of people for years. If someone looks back 100 years from now, they will proudly say that Indian scientists, especially women scientists, not only saved the lives of 140 crore people of India but also saved the lives of people of 101 countries by sending vaccines, he added.
