New Delhi [India], Mar 7 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi released Dictionary of Martyrs - India's Freedom Struggle here on Thursday.
The dictionary compiled by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) contains the names and stories of the martyrs who laid their lives during the Freedom Struggle of India.
"There was no national memorial for the soldiers who martyred post-independence. A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to inaugurate the National War Memorial. Just like this, a National Police Memorial was also built to honour the police officials who martyred for safeguarding the people of our country," the Prime Minister said while addressing the gathering after the release.
He also said that the highest statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel is also a result of the same ideology adding that not enough was done by the previous government for honouring even Subhash Chandra Bose and the Azad Hind Fauj.
"During our government, a Kranti Mandir was set up to inside the Red Fort to honour the Azad Hind Fauj. After the completion of 75 years of the Fauj, the tricolour was hoisted on the Red Fort to honour their sacrifice," Prime Minister Modi added.
He added, "The Dandi Memorial is a unique one in itself, Gujarat Chief Minister yesterday told me more than 10,000 people visit the memorial daily."
Minister of State for Culture and Tourism and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma was also present during the release. (ANI)
