New Delhi [India], July 19 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited the BJP headquarters in the national capital here and interacted with longtime staff and party workers, and thanked them for their unwavering support for decades.
The meet, named 'Sneh Milan', was the PM's first interaction with the party staffers after the Lok Sabha polls, and the PM thanked them for their contribution to the BJP's return to power for a third term, the party sources said.
The workers included office staff and workers such as clerks and peons.
"Today, Prime Minister Modi came to the BJP HQ to meet our staff, many of who have been working for the party for decades. They have seen the party rise from 2 seats to 303, when we just had one Ambassador car to now a fleet... It was an emotional moment for them to be recognised," said Amit Malviya, in-charge of BJP's National Information & Technology Department and and member of the party's National Executive, in a post on X.
Upon entering the BJP headquarters, PM Modi lightened the atmosphere by saying, "Why are you standing so quietly? Smile a little," the sources said. This instantly brought a sense of liveliness among the staff. After taking photos with everyone, the Prime Minister sat down with the staffers in a nearby multipurpose hall and began a conversation, they said.
According to the party sources, the Prime Minister thanked the workers for their dedication, particularly during the election period, when they did not take any leave. He praised their hard work and thanked them for their unwavering support for decades.
Prime Minister Modi also shared his old memories with the BJP office workers, reminiscing about the days when he used to work in the same office. He spoke about the struggles and efforts made in the past to build the party, recalling leaders like Kushabhau Thakre and others who played crucial roles in establishing the BJP and fought long battles.
The Prime Minister emphasised the need to look forward and asked the employees about their experiences during the Lok Sabha elections. He personally interacted employees, inquiring about their families and children. He even asked one employee about his mother's well-being, showing a personal touch in his interaction, sources said.
PM Modi also shared a personal experience, revealing that when he reads something and finds it interesting, he reads it multiple times and often writes down his favourite lines. This habit, he said, helps him internalise those words permanently, sources said.
The meeting concluded with a sense of camaraderie and motivation, leaving the employees feeling valued and inspired by their interaction with the Prime Minister, sources said. (ANI)
