PM Modi lauds Raman, bemoans Cong's 'remote-controlled' regime

Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh) [India], Nov 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the efforts of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for giving a new dimension to development in the state, while bemoaned the fact that earlier "remotely controlled" Congress regime in the state had failed on all counts.
"Although the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been in power for the past 15 years in the state, Chief Minister Raman Singh was able to serve the people in a better manner only when we came to power at the Centre too. Earlier, there was a "remote-controlled" government in Delhi," he said, while addressing an election rally.
The Prime Minister said, "I am quite familiar with Chhattisgarh, its people, their desires and issues. It helps me a lot in formulating welfare schemes for the state. But in reality, Dr Raman Singh only got the opportunity to serve the people properly for the last four and a half years as there was a 'remote-controlled' government in Delhi before that."
He further stated that during his time as the chief minister of Gujarat, he has had the first-hand experience of the neglect the BJP state governments had to face from the Centre. The Prime Minister said that ten years out of the 15 that the people in Chhattisgarh supported the BJP were wasted due to "negative powers" at the Centre.
"But despite all this, with the help of public support, Raman Singh pulled Chhattisgarh out from the 'Bimaru state' tag. You can take my words in writing-Chhattisgarh will become one of the top three states of the county," Prime Minister Modi said.
The Prime Minister mounted a scathing attack on the Congress, asking the people if they wanted to lead a life of suffering as their ancestors did during the decade-long Congress reign.
"For new voters, who are also taking part in the progress of Chhattisgarh, I want to ask them whether they want to live the same tough life as their parents had to lead. Just imagine who used to rule when your parents and family had to suffer. Do you want a government, which destroyed your family's dream? They ruled for four generations in Delhi and reaped all the benefits for themselves at the expense of the nation," Prime Minister Modi said.
He said that the Congress was an anti-democratic party, challenging them to appoint someone from outside the Gandhi family as the party chief if they support democracy.
"Everyone knows what the Congress did to Sitaram Kesri when he was the Congress party president. I challenge the Congress to appoint some able leader as their party president, who doesn't belong to the family," he said.
He also accused them of making fake promises, citing CAG data to state that eight per cent of all beneficiaries of the farm-loan waiver in Karnataka earlier this year were bogus names. "Why are you lying? For 50 years you lied," the Prime Minister said.
"During the Congress' rule, sugar scam, oil scam, urea scam happened. Was that an attempt to give death sentence to farmers? Congress should answer why they never fulfilled the farmers' right by implementing the recommendations of MS Swaminathan Commission report," he asked.
Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress of looting the banks, saying that loans that were sanctioned for 50 years were sanctioned from 2006 to 2014 alone. "They gave hundreds and thousands of crores of rupees to their corrupt friends. But we have taken away all the properties of these financial absconders. We have made a law to facilitate snatching away properties of all financial wrongdoers from all across the world," Prime Minister Modi said. (ANI)
