PM Modi flags off Bengaluru Metro, takes inaugural ride; Karnataka Dy CM Shivakumar hails "New Dawn"

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off the Yellow line of the Bangalore Metro line and took the innagural ride accompanied by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and BJP MP Tejasvi Surya also accompanied them.
Sharing visuals, Shivakumar wrote on X, "Yellow Line Brings a New Dawn for Bengaluru's MetroNamma. Metro's Yellow Line was inaugurated today by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi at Ragigudda Metro Station."
He added that the metro was driven by a woman pilot while the leaders were accompanied by 16 students, eight public members and eight members of the metro construction team.
He wrote, "It was a pleasure to join Hon'ble leaders on a journey from Ragigudda to Konappana Agrahara Metro Station, with the metro driven by a woman pilot, a true reflection of Shakti driving our country forward. We were accompanied by 16 students, 8 members of the public, and 8 members of the Yellow Line construction team, all celebrating this proud milestone for Bengaluru."
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Yellow line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra of the Bangalore Metro.
The Prime Minister was seen buying a ticket through QR code-enabled ticket vending machines at the Ragigudda metro station before flagging off the Yellow Line of the Namma Metro.
The Yellow Line is part of the Metro Phase-2 project and has a route length of over 19 km with 16 stations. The project is worth around Rs 7,160 crore. With the opening of this yellow line, the operational metro network in Bengaluru will increase to over 96 km, serving a large population in the region.
Prime Minister is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Bengaluru Metro Phase-3 project worth over Rs 15,610 crore. The total route length of the project will be more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations. This infrastructure project will address the growing transportation needs of the city, catering to residential, industrial, commercial and educational areas.
PM Modi will also address a public meeting in Bengaluru. (ANI)
