"PM Modi did not provide aid for Himachal monsoon disaster," Priyanka Gandhi

Chamba (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 27 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday accused Narendra Modi-led Central government of not standing with the people of Himachal Pradesh in their hour of need when the devastation struck the Himalayan state last year after monsoon, adding that no special package was announced for the disaster affected families and rebuilding the state.
"In 2022, the people of Himachal Pradesh chose a truthful and honest government. Similarly, they should bring an honest government to power at the Centre. Despite a lot of difficulties, the state government is working for the people of Himachal," Vadra told reporters on Monday in Chamba.
She further asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government did not announce or provide any special relief package for the disaster-hit people of the State.
"All the leaders were in Himachal when the monsoon disaster happened. PM Modi and the central government did not provide any assistance. Whatever was to come has also been stopped. The public should know their intentions and should also see our intentions. Please bring a honest government in Centre also," he added.
Earlier on Friday, PM Modi accused the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh of selectively distributing central aid meant for victims of last year's floods and promised to find out where the money went once he returns to power.
Last year, Himachal Pradesh experienced huge devastation in the state due to heavy rain and flood. Heavy rainfall in the state has led to several landslides that have blocked roads and highways, stranding scores of people.
Polling in all four seats in Himachal is scheduled for June 1. It will not only pit candidates vying for Lok Sabha membership from four seats but also elect members for six assembly seats that fell vacant following the resignation and switchover of dissident Congress lawmakers.
The BJP, which won all four Lok Sabha constituencies in the state in the 2019 elections, is eyeing an encore this time. (ANI)
