"PM Modi assured best possible assistance," says CM Dhami after landslides in Uttarakhand

After heavy rains caused severe havoc in the state of Uttarakhand damaging the route in the Rudraprayag district, the restoration and rescue work is underway to evacuate the people stranded. All the departments in the state are in alert mode and the government is working in the best possible way to tackle the situation, said the Uttarakhand Chief Minister, adding that he has been assured assistance from Prime Minister Modi.

New Delhi [India], August 2 (ANI): After heavy rains caused severe havoc in the state of Uttarakhand damaging the route in the Rudraprayag district, the restoration and rescue work is underway to evacuate the people stranded. All the departments in the state are in alert mode and the government is working in the best possible way to tackle the situation, said the Uttarakhand Chief Minister, adding that he has been assured assistance from Prime Minister Modi.

"Relief and rescue operations are going on in the state. All the departments are in alert mode. I have also visited several places in the state, where I met the devotees who have come for Kedarnath Darshan. Around 5,000 people have been rescued so far and 1,000 people who are in Kedarnath Dham will also be rescued soon. PM Modi has assured me to provide the best possible assistance, Mi helicopters have already been sent. Union HM Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda and other ministers of the Central Govt are in contact with us," CM Dhami told ANI.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and inquired about the disaster caused by heavy rains in various places of the state.
The Chief Minister gave the Union Home Minister detailed information about the relief and rescue operations going on at war footing in the affected areas.
CM Dhami said that Amit Shah has assured all possible help for the safety of the people of the state and the devotees. The CM said that the top leadership is standing strongly in such a difficult time.
Notably, The Indian Air Force has deployed one Chinook and Mi-17V5 helicopter to carry out human assistance and relief operations in the Kedar valley of Uttarakhand. They will be working in coordination with the state government authorities, said Defence officials.
The Kedarnath Yatra has been paused for the time being in the wake of the safety of the pilgrims due to landslides at many places on the Kedarnath footpath. (ANI)
