PM Modi arrives at BJP HQs to chair CEC meeting on Jharkhand polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening arrived at BJP headquarters in National Delhi to chair the Bharatiya Janata Party's Central Election Committee meeting on Jharkhand elections going to polls in two phases.

New Delhi [India], October 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday evening to chair the Bharatiya Janata Party's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting regarding the upcoming Jharkhand elections, which will be held in two phases.
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission of India announced the election schedule for Jharkhand. Voting will take place on November 13 and 20.
The BJP CEC meeting, scheduled for Tuesday evening, will focus on selecting candidates for the Jharkhand assembly elections.
In addition to PM Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP election in-charge for Jharkhand Shivraj Singh Chouhan, co-incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma, and other CEC members will participate in the meeting.
Before this crucial CEC gathering, the BJP's top leadership held a Jharkhand core group meeting on October 7, led by JP Nadda at his residence.
The counting of votes for both Jharkhand and Maharashtra will take place on November 23. The last dates for filing nominations for the two phases are October 25 and 29, with scrutiny scheduled for October 28 and 30. The final dates for withdrawal of candidatures are October 30 and November 1, respectively.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to participate in Jharkhand, including 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters. The state has 11.84 lakh first-time voters, and 66.84 lakh young voters. Senior citizens above the age of 85 can vote from home.
The current term of the Jharkhand assembly will end on January 5, 2025, with elections scheduled across 81 constituencies. (ANI)
