New Delhi [India], September 9 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always talks about a human-centric approach to address global challenges, and believes in inclusive development.
"PM Modi talks about the theme of India’s G20 presidency –'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- One Earth, One Family and One Future.' He thinks of the whole world as one family. It is a very big thing," he said while speaking to ANI.
CM Saha further said that since the baton of the G20 Presidency was handed over to India in December last year from Indonesia, every state has been holding meetings and working very hard to make the event a huge success.
"PM Modi did not want the G20 meetings to be held in one place but across all states," he said.
He mentioned that a G20 science meeting was also held in Tripura.
"The G20 delegates who participated in the event appreciated the state. Everyone started to see the unexplored potential of our country. It was possible due to G20," he added.
More than 200 meetings were held in 60 cities across the country prior to the main G20 Summit.
The 2-day G20 World Leaders Summit kickstarted at 'Bharat Mandapaam' in Pragati Maidan here on Saturday with Prime Minister PM Modi welcoming the world leaders including US President Joe Biden, his UK counterpart Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron with a welcome speech. During his address, PM Modi expressed his condolences over the loss of lives due to an earthquake in Morocco that has killed over 1000 people.
The event saw PM Modi inviting the African Union- a regional bloc of 55 member states- to take its G20 seat as a permanent member.
Two big names- Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President XI Jinping- gave a miss to the summit.  Indian officials maintained that their absence would not have any impact on the Summit
The G20 Summit is being held ahead of the General elections in 2024 and one seen as bolstering the image of PM Modi as a global leader and India establishing itself as the emerging voice of the Global South. (ANI)
