Piyush Goyal appeals to avoid selfies near railway tracks

New Delhi [India], Jan 26 (ANI): A day after a man's attempt to capture selfie video along a railway track from Telangana's Warangal went wrong, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal made an ardent appeal to the citizens to avoid selfies and stunts near railway tracks.

"Dear Citizens, in the last few days, I have seen news and videos in which there have been accidents of youth taking selfies or showing stunts near railway tracks. It is very disheartening to know about these accidents. You all are the future of the country and my appeal is to avoid putting your life at risk and stay alert around the railway tracks. Follow the rules and signs and pay attention while approaching rail crossings", read an official statement from the Railway Minister that was released on Thursday.

On Wednesday, a selfie video of a 25-year-old man from Warangal went viral on the internet.

In the video, the man is seen taking a selfie video when a MMTS train was approaching. However, his attempt to capture a selfie video along a railway track went wrong and he was hit by the train.

The man, who is reportedly a gym trainer, survived the accident and has been booked under Railway laws. (ANI)
