Pharmacy Council of India to launch revamped "DIGI-PHARMed" application tomorrow

New Delhi [India], November 30 (ANI): The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) will launch a revamped - "DIGI-PHARMed" application on December 1 with four integrated services having an objective to regulate the Pharmacy education in the country by enrollment/registration of Pharmacy institutions/Pharmacist/Pharmacy student/Pharmacist jobseeker across India.
President of PCI, Dr. Montu Kumar M Patel will inaugurate the revamped "DIGI-PHARMed" Portal as the earlier iteration of the application was limited in scope, where Pharmacy institutions/Faculties/Pharmacy students could avail full benefits of PCI digital services.
The revamped "DIGI-PHARMed" Portal is cloud-based application to provide end-to-end services to Pharmacy institutions/Pharmacist/Pharmacy student/Pharmacist jobseeker, the PCI release stated.
With the launch of revamped "DIGI-PHARMed" Portal, PCI will be moving towards total digitization of registration/ enrollment services and save several thousand man-hours and tons of printing paper.
This will also go a long way in improving users satisfaction, promoting ease of doing/processing registration process and enhancing productivity and transparency in administrative functioning, it stated.
The revamped DIGI-PHARMed Portal will also provide the services in a digital mode to the Pharmacy institutions/Pharmacist/Pharmacy student/Pharmacist jobseeker.
PCI plans to enable Pharmacy Education Institutes to move from compliance to excellence. For this purpose, PCI has decided to collaborate with the Quality Council of India (QCI), New Delhi, to evolve such a system of assessment and rating, which will focus on process and educational outcomes and will contribute to sustaining and enhancing the quality of pharmacy education in the country. Under Chintan Shivar's initiative, QCI was entrusted with the task of developing a framework for the assessment and rating of all medical institutions in the country. Under this initiative, QCI has developed 11 criteria and associated parameters for assessing and rating Pharmacy Educational Institutes in consultations with PCI and MoHFW, it stated.
PCI intends to evolve the ecosystem of assessment and rating step by step with adequate planning. Initially, draft criteria and associated parameters will be pilot-tested. For pilot testing, some Pharmacy Institutes will be identified from different parts of the country. Based on learning experiences of pilot assessment and testing, the strategy will be chalked out for scaling and implementation of the evaluation and rating of all Pharmacy Institutes in the Country, the release stated.
