Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 17 (ANI): Suresh Singh Rawat, Minister of Water Resources Planning of Rajasthan, on Tuesday expressed his deepest gratitude, and stated that the people of Rajasthan will forever be thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering support and commitment to the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP).
He hailed the progress on the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP) as a 'significant step forward' in resolving a long-pending issue between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the honourable Prime Minister of our country. The people of Rajasthan will always be indebted to him. Today, in the presence of the Prime Minister, along with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal of Rajasthan and Chief Minister Mohan Lal of Madhya Pradesh, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the two states. This marks a significant step forward in resolving an issue that has been pending for years. The first tender for the East Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), has been released. We have issued a work order and are swiftly proceeding with land acquisition efforts. We are committed to completing this work ahead of schedule, demonstrating that this scheme will serve as a lifeline for all of Rajasthan. With this initiative, our farmers will receive irrigation water, and the community will have access to drinking water. Additionally, we have made provisions to supply water to industries to encourage industrial growth," he said.
Notably in October 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to implement the Modified PKC-ERCP river link project as part of the Government of India's National Perspective Plan (NPP) for the interlinking of rivers (ILR).
The Modified Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal-ERCP (PKC-ERCP) Link Project is an inter-state project that merges the PKC link with the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). This integration addresses issues like water sharing, cost-benefit distribution, and water exchange between the concerned states.
On the One Nation One Election bill, Rawat stated that the initiative is essential for the nation's development.
"One nation one election is very important for our country because you see that sometimes Gram Panchayat, sometimes Zila Council, Panchayat committee, sometimes assembly, Lok Sabha, municipal corporation, market elections. We are always engaged in elections. So if all the elections are held once in five years, then there will be time left. They will invest in development because the code of conduct continues for half the time the code of conduct continues. With this, our officials are also busy and public representatives are also engaged in elections so one one-on-one election was necessary for the development of our country. I would like to thank the Prime Minister of our country for doing all the work which is necessary for the country's development and the Congress blocked it," he said.
Meanwhile, Addressing the 'Ek Varsh-Parinaam Utkarsh' program organized to mark the completion of one year of the BJP government in Rajasthan, PM Modi highlighted the increasing faith of people in the BJP's government, noting the recent victories of party Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly election and Lok Sabha election.
"In the last one year, Bhajanlal Sharma and his entire team have worked very hard to give new momentum and direction to Rajasthan's development. This first year has, in a way, become a strong foundation for the coming years. Today's celebration is not limited to the completion of one year of the government, it is also a celebration of the spreading light of Rajasthan, it is also a celebration of Rajasthan's development. Just a few days ago, I came to Rajasthan for the Investment Summit. Big investors from the country and around the world had gathered here. Today, projects worth more than Rs 45,000-50,000 crores have been inaugurated and foundation stones have been laid. These projects will provide a permanent solution to the water challenge in Rajasthan," PM Modi said. (ANI)
