"People of Assam look forward to see Gaurav Gogi as their leader": KC Venugopal

Earlier today, Congress party appointed party leader Gaurav Gogoi as the president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, along with three other working presidents, including Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Roselina Tirkey and Pradip Sarkar.

New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): After Congress party leader Gaurav Gogoi was appointed as the president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday, Congress MP KC Venugopal said that the people of Assam look forward to seeing Gogoi as their leader.
The Congress leader also criticised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Venugopal told ANI, "Let Assam CM say whatever he wants to but the people of Assam look forward to see Gaurav Gogoi as their Leader. Last time also, Himanta Biswa Sarma put his entire resources to defeat him. The entire delimitation process has been done to corner him, but people elected him with a thumping majority... The PCC collective leadership with Gaurav Gogoi is going to bring itself for Assam..."
The Congress party, on Monday, appointed party leader Gaurav Gogoi as the president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, along with three other working presidents, including Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Roselina Tirkey and Pradip Sarkar.
In a press release dated May 26, the All-India Congress Committee stated, "Hon'ble Congress President has appointed the President and Working Presidents of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee as follows, with immediate effect. President: Shri Gaurav Gogoi; Working Presidents: Shri Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Smt Roselina Tirkey, Shri Pradip Sarkar."
"Smt Roselina Tirkey is being relieved of her current responsibilities as AICC Secretary," the press release further read.
The party also appreciated the contributions of the outgoing PCC President, Bhupen Kumar Borah.
Gogoi took to X and expressed gratitude to his family and Congress leaders, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Jitendra Singh Alwar and former Assam PCC President, Bhupen Kumar Borah.
