Patna (Bihar) [India], December 3 (ANI): Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav raised questions over Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's 'Mahila Samvad Yatra,' scheduled to begin on December 15, asking whether a CM needs to spend Rs 200 crores to meet the public. He further alleged that a few people are looting Bihar's treasury by putting Nitish Kumar's face forward.
Notably, the Bihar cabinet has sanctioned Rs 225 crore for the Yatra, which is being organised by the state's Rural Development Department.
Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Tejashwi Yadav said, "It is good that the Chief Minister is going among the people but it is surprising that if the Chief Minister wants to talk to the public, then where will the amount of more than 200 crores be spent? Does Rs 250 crores have to be spent for a Chief Minister to talk to the public?... Public and opposition want to know where this amount will be spent,"
Yadav also accused Bihar CM Nitish Kumar of not paying attention to the demand for special status for the state since he became part of the centre.
"When you are in the government, you forget the special state status of Bihar. When there is a flood, the central government does not give money for flood relief... He (Nitish Kumar) is not able to run Bihar. A few people are looting Bihar's treasury by putting his face forward," said Tejashwi.
Earlier, Union Minister Chirag Paswan emphasised the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance in Bihar operated with the belief that there should be no distance between the people and their representatives.
"When our Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is going to the public with his welfare schemes, not only keeping the legislative assembly elections in mind but also, public representatives should also spend time with people...," Chirag Paswan told reporters in Bhagalpur. (ANI)
