Bhojpur ( Bihar) [India], June 1 (ANI): Union Minister and BJP candidate from Arrah Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar, RK Singh, on Saturday claimed that the people had already made up their minds for the Narendra Modi government at the Centre again.
"People have already made up their minds that in the country it will be Modi Govt and the MP from here (Arrah) will be from BJP... No one wants the INDI Alliance to form a government," Singh told ANI.
In the final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Bihar's eight Lok Sabha constituencies went to the polls on Saturday.
In the Arrah Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 40 parliamentary constituencies in the state, Singh's main contender is Sudama Prasad, a sitting MLA of CPI(ML) Liberation.
RK Singh is seeking his third term from Arrah.
Arrah Lok Sabha constituency is classified as a General category seat and encompasses the entirety of Bhojpur district.
Across India, in this final phase, 57 Lok Sabha seats in seven states and one Union Territory, including Bihar, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal went to the polls on Saturday.
The 57 Lok Sabha seats include 41 general category seats, three reserved for Scheduled Tribes, and 13 for Scheduled Castes.
Of the seats at stake, the BJP had bagged 25 in 2019, while the Congress won eight, and the Trinamool Congress won nine. The Biju Janata Dal won four seats and the Janata Dal (United) won three; the Bahujan Samajwadi Party, Apna Dal, and Akali Dal won two seats each; and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Aam Aadmi Party each snagged a single seat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among the 906 candidates in the fray in this phase, during which 10.06 crore electors are eligible to cast their votes.
Over the last six phases, voting has been completed in 486 Lok Sabha seats across 28 States and Union Territories. (ANI)
